Fabulous Summer Employment Opportunities in Skagway, Alaska!

We are looking for Summer workers for the entire May through mid-September employment only. Our winter staff is limited and openings are not likely for winter work.

We are specifically searching for talented quilters and knitters. You would not be making products, but would be fluent enough in these arts to be able to intelligently sell our products. You do not need to know both quilting and knitting, one or the other is fine.

We expect you to be able to be physically on your feet all day in a fast-paced retail store setting. It is fun and challenging. We work at least a 40 hour work week with occasional overtime hours. We work very hard and are proud of our store! You must be able to think quick and respond kindly to the attention of our customers. We do not encourage any form of laziness, so if you need a chair to sit in and want plenty of coffee breaks, this is not the job for you. We make kits and cut fabrics constantly as well as kit other needle arts and knitting projects in our slow times. Organizational skills are needed. Computer skills a plus.

This can be a great working vacation for the right person! We have many repeat employees who enjoy our hiking trails and beautiful scenery. This is a fabulous small town (population 800+) with charm and a great sense of serenity at the end of the day. During the day we are a very busy cruise ship port with thousands visiting daily.

We operate Rushin Tailors QuiltAlaska in downtown Skagway, Alaska year-round but hours are increased significantly from the first week of May until the last week of September. Employment opportunities are for the summer dates only and not in the winter as staff is then limited. Some housing is available at reasonable rates, however, many of our staff have traveled in their own RV's and camp at the local campground with all facilities available.
Please contact us and let us know what type of work history you have and qualifications to work in this type of store and we will contact you with more information. Please be sure to give us a telephone number and let us know the best time to reach you. We hope to hear from you!
